I want to be a psychologist when I grow up..how do i prepare?

Well I'm still in junior high, but I'm really looking towards being a psychologist when I grow up..what are some colleges i could go to? and what could i be doing now to prepare my career? thnx a ton. :]

  1. well i go to Stanford and my doctor is also a psychologist. she went to University of Michigan, and Stanford. Get a PHD because thats real helpful

Go to apa.org  There is alot of info there on careers psychologist have.  There is also a list of accredited graduate programs.  You need to have a minimum of a master's to practice.  In the time being study hard, take college prep courses, bio, chem, etc.  There are many good programs...top schools: Stanford and University of Michigan.  (college psych prof)

  3. Some high schools offer psychology courses as electives (mine did).  When you get to college you can major in psychology and also place an emphasis. (child psychology, etc...) You may also find you want to go to med school to be a psychiatrist instead.  A college degree is only as good as the work you put into it, not the name on top.

  4. what type child? criminal? it all depends you could go to florida, texas or New York the more crazy people the better.
