  1. Honey, I'm not sure about this profession, but you should know that I think your aspirations are very noble and I wish you the best!

    XO, NOELLE©

  2. You need a Master's degree.  Start with the junior college and get someone who is in the field to mentor you.  EXCELLENT goal!  You must be proud of your accomplishments.  We adopted our daughter when she was 13 and boy she is giving us such a rough time.  Maybe YOU can e-mail me with some of the struggles you endured so that I know what she is going through.  Start writing a book now and read everything you get your hands on about being a social worker.

  3. you need a degree in social work there are many great programs around the country.  Google the Council on Social Work Education for a listing of colleges that have accerdited programs. Also the NASW

Some county agencies you just need a BA to work with Foster Care but you can't move up or supervise or work for a private adoption agency.

  4. That's great that you want to help people! We need more people like that to help our society of today.

    Good luck!!

    =)

  5. While unfortunately the pay is similar to that of a non-degree required job, tehre are social working bachelor's degrees, and then the agencies you work for are usually state. While you can't get a job as a social worker right now, if you're sure this is what you wanna do, ease off on the college until after high school and find a social worker in your area whom you can shadow, or mentor under. You'll learn a lot this way, and get paid more for experience out of college.

  6. this is a very noble job that you are wanting to undertake.  you should know that they don't make much money.

  7. Id' say your best bet is to just talk with your school councelor. They can tell you all you need to know. Good luck and congrats on actually wanting to do something in this world. It's a great dream and a wonderful job to do. Good luck!

  8. i was a foster care case worker until a few months ago.

You need a bachelors degree.  as for what it needs to be in...it really doesnt matter.  you could major in social work but that really limits you.  I was a an elementary education major psychology minor in college.  My coworker majored in family and consumer sciences.  Basically you just need enough of your classes to be family related (child, psych, soc, etc).  i left the job because im having a baby and wanted to stay home with the baby and not give a babysitter 1/2 my paycheck.  I watch a couple kids in my home and am coming out about the same.  THe job only pays around 25,000 a year .  Do what will make you happy though dont base you life on money.  Good luck and i also plan on fostering and adopting (we are licensed foster parents too).

  9. Well, it depends on what you want to specialize in.  My mom went to school for social work, but specifically she works with children who have disabilities.  Throughout school you'll learn about the different agencies and how to apply with them.

  10. I dont really know the answer to your question but, my mom was a social worker. She didnt like it because it was heart breaking & when going to people's house it can be scary and thejob doesnt pay well. She said, "She didn't know what she was thinkign about going into that major." Now, she is in another major. With a WELL paying job.
