i am graduating a liberal arts college with a major in spanish this year. i have not done an education major, just spanish. i think i woudl like to teach it. shoudl i get teaching certification or shoudl i try to work at a private school? i think i woudl prefer to wrok at a private school. shoudl i get an MA in spanish and TA ship? i dont have much experience working at anything. but i like spanish and i think i coudl teach it deffinately. whats the best path to take? i hate education course work but i'm not that fond of literature lol. i like teaching peopel to speak langauges

  1. If you want to teach private school, just go ahead and apply for it. There are also some high-needs public schools (in very poor areas of inner cities, for example) who would hire you without your having certification.

    However, you might want to reconsider teaching if you really hate education coursework. Not that everything you learn there is useful, but a lot of it is. Teaching in a school is a lot different that tutoring one person who really wants to learn the language, for example. You do need to know things about classroom management, motivating students, and how to write lesson plans, and those are things you'll do everyday if you become a teacher.
