  1. Salad, vegetables for example broccoli,cucumber,carrot,lettuce,zucchin... and fruit for example apples,bananas,oranges,pineapple,passion... and strawberries and chicken and fish and sometimes prawns.

  2. Honey, I'd say don't even worry about being a vegetarian yet. Clean up your diet first. Go look at all the -garbage- they put into that food at the places you mentioned and start educating yourself about human nutrition.

  3. There are a lot of different fruits and vegetables. And McDonald's has a fish sandwich, and salads. And stuff.

    You can try Boca Burgers...

  4. Its good to see you still have the strength to type, welcome to the bottom of the food chain.

  5. There is not going to be much at any of those places.  None of them offer food for a balanced healthy diet.  Google recipes and pick up some books on simple vegetarian meals.  You can make almost any dish meat free and it's easy and most everything can be found in regular supermarkets.  When I started..I would just google a recipe I liked and added the word vegetarian to it to get the recipe.  For example "vegetarian stuffed peppers" or "vegetarian casserole recipes"

Here is a good website for a beginner with recipes...just click on "messages" for hundreds of easy veg recipes

  6. Thanks for turning into vegetarian because of you more and more animals will save teir lives

Proteins: Body's protein needs can be provided by either animal or plant sources. Mixed protein diet obtained from various plant sources is better than animal protein and is recommended in diabetes, renal diseases and liver diseases. Mixed protein diet from different plant sources has been the pattern of diet in India for all vegetarians.

Carbohydrates: Carbohydrates are mainly found in plant foods; like cereals, grains, fresh and dry fruits, legumes, vegetable, greens, nuts etc. plant carbohydrates include' large amounts of starches, sugar and fibers which are important for gut functions. The body is better suited to a high carbohydrate diet than a low carbohydrate diet. In fact 55% of the food intake should be carbohydrate. All animal products do not contain carbohydrate which is essential for body.

Fat: Plant fats differ from animal fats in two different ways 1) they are cholesterol free 2) they generally contain more polyunsaturated fat and less saturated fats. Plant fats usually have higher polyunsaturated fat value than animal fats.

A diet which is low in cholesterol and which contains fat of a high PIS value is associated with a lower incident of coronary health disease.

Vitamins and Minerals: plant foods are rich in many vitamins and minerals.

Vitamin D: Vitamin D is obtained by exposure of skin to sun light and this is not a problem in India.

Calcium: The vegetarians can meet their needs for calcium from dairy products. Riboflavin (Vitamin B2) Dark green vegetables are good sources of Riboflavin as are legumes and whole grain cereal.

Iron: The problem of iron deficiency is relatively common but vitamin C significantly enhances absorption of iron hence it is advisable for vegetarians to include with each meal a food high in vitamin C which as lime, citrus fruits or juices.

Zinc: Zinc is found in large number of plant foods.

Fiber: Fiber is found only in vegetarian food like whole grain cereals, legumes, greens, fruits, vegetable etc.

Thus in vegetarian foods all requirement of nutrition for body growth and maintenance is fulfilled. One can have a complete and balanced diet provided we take enough food which is as close to nature as possible in maintaining sturdy and disease free body. It is equally helpful in curing many diseases.

    ADVANTAGES OF VEGETARIAN DIET:

More & more evidence is surfacing that directly links a prolonged non- vegetarian diet to diseases as cancers, heart diseases, diabetes, asthma just to name a few.

    1. LOGEVITY: Vegetarian can expect to live 4-10 years longer then the non-vegetarians.

" Source: Seventh day Adventists study

    2. LESS HEART DISEASE: Because of low fat, saturated fat and cholesterol content of the vegetarian diet the risk of heart disease is lowered. High blood cholesterol levels are associated with increased risk of heart disease.

    3. LESS CANCER: Up to 40% of all cancers are diet related. Cancer death rates have been associated with obesity and high fat / low fiber diet. Vitamin A & C are thought to be protective against colon cancer. Low fat diets protect against prostrate and breast cancer. Indoles, lignans, isoflavones, protease inhibitors which are present in plant foods and shown to be potent anti carcinogens.

    4. LESS BOWEL DISEASE: Diverticular disease and appendicitis occur more frequently with low fiber intake as in meat diet.

  7. howdy im also becoming vegetarian and have so far found someof these answers helpful thnx guys (though no thanx to he who sed i am bottom of the food chain why should i use the position im in to eat animals instead of helping them) i good choice is to google "vegetarian recipes" on google there are many helpful websites listed (i found a great pizza one) and there are also ones for vegans too. the main thing to remember is beocming vegetarian means you run the risk of becoming anemic so it is important to keep up the iron intake. b12 tablets are helpful for making up for lost vitamins aswell. there are also meat subsitues like vegie paties and tofu which can be similar to meat in texture and vegi bacon and vegie suasages for simlar taste (f you find urself missing meat) its also important to eat rice and noodles as they help to fill you up

  8. Drop the vegetarian act and wolf down a few burgers. Your body will thank you and that poor cow will not have died in vain.

  9. anything but meat lol. All veggies and fruit that you like plus its good to have lots of protein like eggs, tofu, nuts, soy etc...

This is what is recommended for a vegetarian to eat everyday:

"3 or 4 servings of cereals/grains or potatoes

4 or 5 servings of fruit and vegetables

2 or 3 servings of pulses, nuts & seeds

2 servings of milk, cheese, eggs or soya products

A small amount of vegetable oil and margarine or butter.

Some yeast extract such as Marmite, fortified with vitamin B12."

So find what you like and eat them. As for the fast food, well... i guess the garden salads would be ok. Its a fairly simple thing to follow, just dont eat meat products! Its a bit of a stretch to find healthy food at these places, and they arent vegetarian friendly. Wendys is ok (except for the hot dogs), but mcdonalds is not really an option. I think burgerking has veggie burgers though.

  10. Salads, fruit, vegetables....you might do some research like google it or something, i'm not a vegeterian so I dont knovv all the rules...I knovv some dont even drink milk or anything vvith diary in it.

  11. Theres a bunch of stuff you can eat.. You can get Veggie burgers, which are a veggy patty on a bun with salad, you can obviously eat all the salads, and fries..

You can always find somethink on a menu at any restaurant.. You can eat Vegetarian noodles, Vegetarian lasagne, Vegetable soup, veggie curries, veggie pasta, veggie stir fry

    So much stuff.. Goodluck!!

  12. Healthy foods could be - cucumber, carrots, radish, pumpkin, brinjal(aubergine), potato, leafy vegetables viz., spinach, lettuce, cabbage...etc, cauliflower, broccoli (u may not like it, but its very healthy)... there are many vegetables that you could try and each of them give you a good amount of vitamins, minerals, proteins. Veggies are low in fat and carbohydrates and so are a lot more healthy than meat, fish, eggs & poultry products.

  13. I dont think it is possible to avoid onions and tomatoes in these fast food joints. You can eat full-cheese sandwich with vegitables etc etc You can also go for Kosh Veg. Food (Israel),Jain food (India), Marwari Thali (India) etc etc.

  14. Just don't eat meat...it's as simple as that! A vegetarian just means that you don't eat meat...it seems like you're getting it confused with vegan. Two TOTALLY different things.

Anyway; as a vegetarian just stay away from meat. In real restaurants (not fast food) alot of things can be made without the meat...just ask. Not to mention that fast food places DO have stuff that isn't meat. My adivice though is to stop eating fast food and make some home made food more often! Odds are anything you eat that uses meat can be made without it. Spaghetti? Just leave out the meatballs! Pizza? Get a vedgie pizza or a cheese pizza and add some feta cheese, olives, seasonings! Unless the meal completely revolves around the meat, you can just skip on the meat. It's actually pretty easy.

Alot of people think meat is essential for protein but it's not! Many faux-meat or 'vedgie-meat' foods are sold at grocery stores...many of which taste alot like the real thing (so my friends say...i'm a vegetarian) I'd recommend Morning Star. They're stuff is affordable and really good! Here's their site:

    http://www.seeveggiesdifferently.com/

You'll see 'boca burgers' too but they don't taste to good in my opinion...

And some tips on eating healthy as a vegetarian:

edit: Don't listen to Pool Guy...there's nothing you get out of a meat diet that you can't get out of a vegetarian one.

edit2: Paige Answers :D: uhh...vegetarians don't eat fish :/ It is meat...why do so many people consider it other wise I wonder?

  15. I don't think it would be a good idea to go to a fast food place if your trying or are a vegitarian. There really isn't anything on the menu that you could eat. Even some salads aren't vegitarian.
