  1. get a feakin job for 3 months save 1000$ while you live at home and buy a good camera, might i also reccomend a student loan and going to college for photography or art. An art degree is not as useless as it sounds, it's better than a philosophy degree. you can make 100 to 200$ a week at burger king, save 100 a week for 10 weeks that's two and a half months = 1,000 smackers. I brought my mother a $250 digital camera and she got  one of her flower pictures published in her spare time. If you work for national geographic they will probably provide you with equipment. You should write them now about your interest and ask what degrees or qualifications they would like to see. You then fulfill these requirements over the next few years since you are young. and posibbly get an internship there even now or once you start college. You may even benefit from being a biology or ecology major or minor with an art or photography major or minor.

  2. Get a copy of photographers market ( about $25.00) at Barnes and Noble and submit to the publishers and magazines listed there.  Or the library usually has a copy of it too.  Keep taking the photos and build a portfolio of good strong work and make appt's with art directors and photo editors to show it.  Name of the game is network!

  3. Just show them some of you pictures you have taken and then your career will just shoot off from there........ it won't matter if you have a bad camera........ start out as small photography stuff and then get bigger and bigger.....

  4. Go to school and study journalism, then get an internship with a magazine or newspaper.  Work your way into the position.  Other than that, get a part time job and save your money.  I worked full time and went to school full time.

  5. take some pictures and contact the places. make it happen for yourself, you wont get anywhere if you don't make it for yourself

  6. You need to make sure you have a college schedule that works well with a work schedule. Jobs often work around a student's schedule. i suggest getting a schedule in college (Like mine) where I have 4 1 hour classes that start at 9:15 a.m and end at 2:30 p.m. I only have those 4 classes three days a week and that gives me 4 days off from my college courses. You really just need to find a way to manage your time better.

  7. If you're good now you should have no problem getting into a college to learn photography, college is free its just university that you will have to pay for but you could always get a small job that includes photography in the meantime to pay to go to university.

  8. Most people start out poor. Its all about proving yourself and climbing the ladder go take some wildlife pictures and send them in somewhere...like some kid of contest thing. Anyways when you go to college people are there to help you ask teachers and career counselors or even better ask your photography teacher.

  9. try and gte scholarships, entered contests and stuff. like essay contests and photography contests. they pay you.

    and get jobs

  10. What i do is just go into the wilderness maybe a local forest or a lake something that is scenic, and just take a look at everything and take it into consideration. Take pictures of things that spark your interests. And to give your picture a little zing use photo shop.

  11. well you should go to a tech school. you can always get lottery money or scholarships if you make good grades. i'm getting lottery money for my first year of college and if i do well, i will get EVERYTHING paid for FREE. my books and everything. if it's something you really want to do than you can. and plus, you can just go from school to NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC, that's not going to happen. you need to take other pictures let's say weddings, cityscapes, idk whatever and get your name out there first. start at the bottom, work your way to the top.

  12. ok...

  13. Um.....finish school. Get a job. Buy your own camera.

    That was easy.

PS-It's not about the camera, it's about the talent. I'vetaken some pretty awesome pictures with my $69.99 EasyShare.

  14. Im 17 also and i want to be a photographer as well..a little tip is that it doesnt always matter the mega pixels of a camera are, a good photographer will always manage to get a good shot of something!

Enter competitions online and in local galleries and stuff! thats what im currently doing (: my work has also been recongised by someone in the photography industry! :)

Keep working towards your dreams, don't let anything stand in the way! Its free to post images of your photography on the internet, sites like flickr are great to show your work off!

Not all photographers are rich, alot of them start off with an old fashioned film camera and just take photo's of anthing and everything, if you're good..you'll get recongised..it might take a while, but it will happen.

    Good Luck! (:

  15. Do well in school/go to college.

Get a good job that pays a decent amount of money.

    Buy a nice camera.

  16. Yes, you can work while you're in college full time. You could get a job now while you're still in high school. If you really want a nice camera, make the sacrifices necessary to get one.

In the mean time, you can learn a lot about composition with a cheap camera. Go to flickr.com's camera search. You can see different pictures taken with different cameras. A talented photographer can take good pictures with a point and shoot.

  17. same with me..i always say i take amzing pictures..and everyones like, im bigheaded..well its all i got, im takin it lol...i have no clue how im gunna do it, but im going to...somehow..im takeing all the extra classes that i can, that have to do with photography, and hopfully goign to get a job at a studio, gotta work my way up, you know? just try and do what i do, take some classes.

  18. join a camera club so that you can train yourself up so that you can then get used to having your camera in manual mode (control the shutter speed, etc) so that you can then take brilliant photos of things in motion. You could then enter into a photography competition so that you earn enough money to buy yourself a better, less-automated camera so you have more freedom as far as far as the photos are concerned.

  19. 5 mega pixle is fine! :) just keep on doing what you are doing maybe get a part time job to save up a better camera

  20. Before I got noticed by BBC Wildlife magazine my dad worked at Chester Zoo and i just photographed every single animal there was...BUT the best trick is to join a photography club (maybe local or maybe online) They usually have members competitions which you can enter free of charge. Its true that usually photo's of regular everyday subjects win the best prizes and not those mega expensive "set-up" ones taken in deepest darkest Africa. Photography clubs usually also have advance news of national competitions - were you can get your name known. Good luck Eli and

Get a copy of this magazine too:

  21. It's a big job - but you have to start somewhere - take your little c**p camera, and start taking wildlife pictures.

Can you get a job with a photographer?  You need a mentor.
