I want to be an English teacher...?

i need to know how to become an english techer, (pref. high school) I really want ot do this but I am confused on where to start. I just got out of High School a year ago and I want to start college asap. Are there any online ones any one knows about? but most of all I need to know where to Start. I live in Ohio also if that has anything to do with anything.

your best bet would be to go to an actual school not just online since you want to teach high school you need to major in english and minor in education that way when you get certified you can teach from grades 6 up

idk much about schools in ohio since i'm from CT but usually when you go to a school to become a teacher you're certified through the college or university

You have a good goal.  To get there you likely will need a bachelor's degree, and lots of colleges give them.  Look for a college that has a program that will enable you to be certified as a teacher in your state on graduation (meaning you don't have to take any more courses to be certified).   Major in English, since you seem so interested in the subject.

I would avoid the online colleges--many of them are not accredited, meaning that a school system might not accept your degree as legitimate.  Many teachers started college by going nights to community colleges after they got off work.

Private schools are more flexible in their requirements than public school systems, which have to hire only certified teachers by law.
