  1. not hard, go to college for boradcasting & there you go.

  2. Teenage Wonder,

Except for the talk radio part of your question, this sounds just like me at age 14!

One thing you can do is to try recording practice shows onto some kind of tape recorder..anything that allows you to listen back to what you're recorded. You can then begin to notice things that sound good, and things that sound weak.

For me, I had to get used to the sound of hearing my own voice.

I did go to college and took Broadcast Journalism and finally Radio production and Mass Communications.

    But...

I got a radio job BEFORE I got to the radio production/mass communication part of this. Here's how I did it..

First, I made friends with some radio people. Not just the DJs,

but the program directors (who often did the hiring) and anyone else! One station allowed me to come in and observe. I did do some "board-op'ing" for them which is radio talk for running the audio console. But I didn't het hired there.

One of the DJs told me about another station in town. He said he got his start there and said they often hired new folks

for overnights. I decided to give it a try.

I was ultimately hired after some time and worked there for a year. Then the station was sold and everyone was let go.

At that time, I went back to college and finished my degree..then went on to work in radio, which I've done ever since..in the same market.

    Good luck to you.

  3. What I would do is first major in Broadcasting or Mass Comm or Broadcast Journalism in college....

If you want to start before college, I had a friend who volunteered at a radio station, and she has worked her way up the ladder.

Another good thing would be to go to a college that has a Radio Station that students operate.
