Get yourself into an acting school, pronto.

Acting school is how Orlando Bloom earned his role in Lord of the Rings without ever having had movie experience. Coaches in acting schools usually have very many contacts and will refer their students to local directors, who, in turn, will continue passing your name forward.

Once you've done that, I would suggest getting an agent. He/she can help you put together a port-folio in order to get your name out quicker.

If you'd like a taste of the business (if you're fresh out of highschool), try taking some theatre classes. Most colleges offer some sort of acting classes.

You want to be an actress? Read about character development.I have kept a book  with the title Uta Hagen Respect for Acting. I found a lot of Uta Hagen's advice to be great. If you can't swing the cost of theatre school you can always take workshops or out reach classes with the very same instructors with out spending a pile of money. Look after your body and eat well and sleep well your body is your tool. Find books about how to use your  voice perhaps singing exercises can be help full.
