I want to be an actress...?

Question

I'm 18 years old and I've never had ANY experience, but ever since I was little I knew that's where I should be. However, I got involved with another area of study and never got to pursue acting. Where do I start?

-I'm going to school in the fall

-I have no theater/acting resume

Help! I know this is where I belong.

you shoudl do some classes!participate in plays! build up your resume! get an agent! do auditions! get headshots!

read everythign you see! and click on words in blue but not double udnerlined ones and i suggest that you sign up with alan baltes go to first site and look at right column it explains everything! he wont be an agent just help you out and its a one time fee of 30 dollars and totally worth it!

if you know thats what you want to do so badly, take classes.

acting is a really difficult field to get into,

especially if you dont start young to build a foundation in it.

you need some raw talent & lessons,

and then if your teacher thinks you're talented enough,

see if you can get an agent and they will help you go to auditions for things.

there are some open auditions but they are usually PACKED.

it's not good enough to just want it anymore, but then again there are people who have no talent that make it.

just work at it, if you have a passion for it, it will show & be recognized.

the thing is about acting is that you have to want it more than anything. you may have to leave your friends and even family if it comes to that point.and you have to start somewhere like taking classes or going to a camp or school, then start looking out for agents and auditions you could possibly get into! =] tell me how it works out

Just audition for a play.  You don't need a resume for college.  It helps, but there are a lot of people that audition for the first time.  Make sure you check out the drama department ahead of time.  Maybe contact whichever professor is going to be directing the first play of the year.  Introduce yourself and let them know you are new to theatre but you would like to audition.  You will have to start with small parts most likely and pay your dues.  Also sign up for acting classes.  Most colleges will let you taking acting as a general education credit.

everyone wants to be an actress. who knows if youre talented enough and not just a drama queen? take classes, and listen to the radio and tv cause oppurtunities open up all the time, just last week on 1079 (i live in california) it said there was audtions to be on disney show or commercails
