I want to be an actress (specifically in drama movies) but I'm probably too young(going into 7th grade but I look like 3 years older). I was in a drama class for 2nd hour last year and I did really well. If there happened to be a movie/show that I could audition for, how could I find out about it, and what would I need to prepare for the audition (monologue?).Considering the fact that I am so young, should I just wait until I'm out of school before I try to get into acting? Is there any kind of fee we would have to pay to audition? If so, what are some good ways to pay for it-My parents probably wouldn't pay for mine. I live in Colorado and if I would need to fly somewhere it might be too late before I get the money for the plane ticket(babysitting and alowance(sp?)). Thanks!

  1. Nope, you're not too young (there are people who started acting when they were just a baby, like mary-kate and ashley did). You need to gain lots of experience to become an actress. Take acting classes around your community to build up experience. For auditions you NEVER pay anyone, always take your parents along with you and your resume and headshot. To find out about auditions you can join the exploretalent or onetalensource websites.

Start out small and work your way up.

Always take your parents along with you to jobs and auditions.

Make sure this is something you really want to do because this is a harsh industry and has lots of tough competition.

Remember to do lots of research!

  2. Hi Chatty! Me my wife and Daughter moved to LA last year and love it....If you keep taking drama classes and practice and set your sights and DO NOT DEVIATE.......keep it clear

that you will be and not " well im gonna try to"........Listen everyone living here has done something on the screen....

EVERYONE....At first I did not believe it until me and my wife were extras in a couple of shorts....Get an account online with LA Castings.com and Extra Castings....both here in LA....you can upload a picture and tell them about yourself..............My friends actually make a good living being extras in movies. Also it is best that the more you try

and get the more your portfolio goes.........They look for

unique personalities so when at drama class or practice

let yourself loose and find exactly what you like.......

then .......try try try try try try ......and .........try....and you will get....PEACE Mike

  3. honestly, I'm tired of every girl on this site wanting to get on Disney.  Not only is it a long shot, but truly think, do you really want to be thought of the "Disney Kid" for the rest of your life, practically halting your career, no matter how talented you are.  my advice would be to try getting on local shows (school and the like) and then try moving up, go to community theatres, and then after building up a resume full of experience, try to go for a bigger role.  Just remember acting isn't the best paying career, so be prepared to work alongside your acting career.
