I want to be fashion designer and go to school in LA, but

Question

how do they accept you? do you need to sketch and show them some pieces you have sewn? how can i start out? i might want to take a teen class class at joanns to sew a dress, but i need help? any advice? how do people get accepted? what is the best fashion/design or college for fashion design in LA? i heard ottis is really good, but i really dont know

Do well in school, especially in communication (speech and writing skills are important in fashion and advertising!)  Take art, design, and yes, it would likely help if you understood basic clothing construction and tailoring.  

Right now I would focus on not wasting your school years chasing a particular school or idea. . . .and a good solid education background (yes, math, history and literature will help, believe me!) will be necessary if you are to succeed in design school or ANYWHERE.  Good study habits in your teens turn into good work habits in your 20's and THAT is what will get you into the school you want and help you get and keep that perfect job.

idk any colleges but you have to draw alot of sketchs and they have to be good and you also have to sew stuff too, and they probably won't accept you if you make a simple dress and if you don't know how to get any ideas for that then maybe you shouldn't be a fashion designer.
