  1. your going out too fast. try to keep an even pace and run both laps in 65 or something.

  2. You should be closer to 200 at your age

:58 and come back in :62

  3. Practice, Go to the track every day sprint a 800 then jog a 800 then sprint then jog thats what i do on my 1600's works for me, also push harder in the beginning to get a head start but not too hard cuz u dont want to waste your breath

  4. man sorry to say it but you are RETARDED, that is WAY to fast to start off at, i bet you lead the race for the first lap and start to die with 250 meters left to go, should go out at about 65 sec. pace your first lap and wait till the last 200 meter of the 2nd lap then go balls to the wall, i run a 2:10 doing this, my first lap is usually a 64 so just try that out, justb/c your not killing yourself your first lap doesn't mean your running slow, remember the 2nd lap is the one that counts

  5. It is the summer so right now you should be building your base and just logging some miles along with some fast 100m strides at the end of your runs.

You are also going out way too fast.  I am 15 years old also and this year I ran 2:04.  Your speed is definitely there but work on your endurance and good luck!

  6. PLYO'S

  7. You need way more endurance. For your age, a 58s 1st lap is good, but that 2nd lap needs some serious work. You need to do some longer workouts... 1,000m-1,200m. Running some 1600s at a meet wouldn't hurt either.

Your speed is fine, so I would really focus on endurance/base training. Speed is so much easier to work on, so that can be saved for a much later time.

  8. You are going out too fast.

You want to try to run even for the race.

That means that you should not go out in 58 and come in in 1:17.

If you ran 1:05 you should be able to do the second lap in something close to 1:05 which would give you a 5 second improvement.

You need to do intervals to stress your body so you are able to run at a faster pace, and pace intervals so you will run at your race pace.

Each 200 should be in about the same time.

The first 200 is going to seem slow, and the second 200 is a little harder, the third 200 is the hardest, physically and mentally.

Think about running 32 seconds for each of the first 200s that would put you at 64 or 65 for the 400, and set you up for 2:10 or better if you can hold the pace.

Besides doing some distance runs of 3 to 5 miles, you should do intervals 2 to 3 days each week, during the season running repeat 200, 400, 500, or 600.

Some days you might do 800 or even 1000.

Obviously the repeat 800 and 1000 is not at race pace.

  9. You need to get your base strong. Also do some speed things that helps. Run 5 or 6 miles a day. Take 1 day off per week to let your muscles recover. For an 800 meter race keep the pace even then at the last 200 meters run as fast as you can.
