My question sorta sums it up. I want to be friends with an adult rabbit that my sister owns. I already handle all of the feeding and care of the rabbit, Jessica. She/he? likes me already I think.. We think it's a girl, lol. She circles my feet when she's running outside the cage, which as I've read is sexual, so maybe not a girl? I don't wanna invade her privacy enough to look at her bits though. She also licks my forehead sometimes, which though disgusting seems friendly enough.

Basically I want to be able to handle her. She lets me pet her, though she sorta hunkers down. Trimming her claws is such an ordeal I'd rather just get it over with and never quite do a good enough job. So, how can I 'persuade' her to be my friend?

  1. just like most mamals if you spend alot of time with the rabbit and let it get your scent so it can all ways identify you it will learnto like you alot or in your case be your friend

  2. What are you talking about?

Its a rabbit, just be nice I guess

  3. Rabbits are very....well i don't know the word, but it's nota  bad one. Give her/him alot of attention. Every try buying a harness and leash and taking him/her for a walk? Make sure when other animals come buy to pick him/her up so they don't attack. A way to do that(which some think is painful to the rabbits) is to pick it up by the scruff and support it with the other free hand. That way it'll feel supported. Walk by the animal slowly, so you don't frighten the rabbit. Make sure you supprot him/her, because rabbits hate the feeling of being in midair. Feed him/her their favorite treats. NEVER hand feed a rabbit. They might bite by accident. If this does happen, don't think of it as an offensive bite, it's probably just defending the food or trying to get it at an angle in which your hand is in the way. And when she "hunkers down" when your petting her is a sign that she's letting you pet her and she likes it. These are hopefully helpful tips. If you have any more questions or need help send an email to me. I'm an rabbit expert!   :-D seriously. Also, don't listen to the people who say it's just a rabbit, because it's way more than that, it's a companion, a friend. GOOD LUCK!
