I was thinking I could use an online program, but they all happen to make you enroll full time. is there someone who will just tell me where I can find a person to grade only my writing?

  1. In some states you can attend your local school just for a class or two. Maybe you could call your school board and see if they allow this. If so you could enroll for only an English course.

  2. What year in school are you?  I'm a fourth grade teacher and would be happy to help.  Writing is one of my strong areas.

  3. Try http://www.writeathome.com. This is an online program just for writing. It isn't cheap, but it is good quality.

Writing can be one of the hardest things for homeschool parents to teach - it sounds like your parents are thinking hard about this. I hope you can find a way to do this that satisfies all of you!

  4. If you contact a local homeschooling group in your area, they most likely will be able to refer you to a licensed teacher who is also a homeschooler.  Then your parents will have the assurance that a qualified individual is grading your papers, yet still supportive of the homeschool idealism.  Also, depending on the writing curriculum you are using, there may be representatives who can provide this service for you.

  5. You can do single courses through Hewitt homeschooling, so you could take their Lightning Literature and composition courses only.  http://www.hewitthomeschooling.com

Also, Sycamore Tree Academy has a composition evaluation service that I believe costs $80 per semester for those who are not enrolled in their academy.  If I remember right you can send in five shorter papers and one long paper (research paper) each semester.  They evaluate it, give it a grade, and a written evaluation to suggest ways to improve your writing.

    EDIT---------EDIT------------EDIT-----...

I know sycamore tree provides the service I mentioned, (I've used it myself) but I couldn't find info about it on the website.  Call them at 714-668-1343 for more information if you are interested.

  6. Look for a local tutor who will take on this limited assignment.

If you have a college in town, a student there will be happy to earn a few bucks this way. You can send them your papers electronically but also meet them to discuss details. besides, your parents might want to know just who they are trusting their kid's education to.
