I want to be more prepared to be a high school music teacher?

what can i do to be bettter prepared to become a music teacher. i play piano and guitar. what songs should i learn. should i study any music theory if so what should i read? help please?

You don't say how old you are.  Try accomplishing something in the field of music, such as publishing your own score, or recording, or even article about music.  If in college, you need to substitute teach.  Teaching isn't all about what you know.  You need to be able to convey this knowledge to others and you need to be able to control a classroom.
