I'm fairly good at volleyball, but I came late to this school this year as a freshman in high school so I didn't get to play this year. Do you have any tips on making the team next year? (as a sophomore) I'm pretty confident I can make it, I just want to make sure and start practicing soon.

Thanks <33

  1. ok. three words. practice makes perfect. if you have a volleyball

(and i'm very sure you do) practice when you have free

time. as for being late. try to get more sleep. do our homework before dinner. and try not to stress out. if you stress out it will get your mind on that one thing and not on other things like math or reading.and that will give you a lower chance on being on the volleyball team. so good luck next year hope you make it. :-)

  2. Just practice. If you're good then they'll take you. Have confidence, you cant walk in there thinking you're not going to make it. Just show up and bring your game and you'll be on the team.

  3. ask the coach for tips on drills to do until volleyball next year. that will show the coach that you are dedicated. And you might want to ask the girls on the volleyball team now what you could do to help you improve for next year. Who knows maybe you could practice with them in the off season as well!

  4. get into a daily work out and eat healthy and start partacing approaches and hits {if ur in front row} if ur a back liner start partcing passing to setter and serves! God luck!

  5. practice practice practice!! and u'll succeed

  6. Learn the rules of the game, practice your moves before, and show up at tryouts prepared.

Get a book on the rules of the game. Read up, learn the names of moves and the layout of the court.

Next, learn the proper way to perform a spike, a bunt, a serve, etc. Practice practice practice. Some of my friends who are on the girl's volleyball team practice all the time, even in the off season.

Volleyball tryouts can be very tough. Often it will be painful for your wrists, you'll be exhausted, and you'll be sweating like a hog. Come to tryouts in the proper attire, and listen carefully to what the coach has to say. Bring your own water, a little towel for wiping off your sweat and plenty of deodorant. Show up on time and work your hardest. Often what they are looking for is girls who are willing to work hard and have good potential, not always those naturally talented girls. Be nice to the other girls there, there's no reason to make enemies of your future team mates. If you have questions ask, but don't correct the coach. That would be rude and bad for your chances of making the team.

  7. you can join the team from now . just ask and maybe they will let you join it.

  8. Most schools are pretty flexible on the whole try-out thing. They call them try outs but they have to let everyone who tries out at least try and stay with the sport, they might not make the varsity squad, but no school would turn someone down at a try out even if they sucked really bad.

I don't play volleyball, I'm a wrestler, but try outs have those same guidelines at pretty much every school. So if you are fairly good, you should be able to make at least the JV team no problem as long as you keep practicing. I know a lot of girl volleyball players at my school, and that's what they did.

  9. make friends with the girls on the team, that way they can help you and make try-outs easier due to the fact you know the girls you trying out with.

    practice practice practice

maybe there is a open gym for volleyball at your school.

  10. then sign up early in 2008

  11. just keep praticeing and go to see as many volley ball games and pratices as you can trust me it wll help i have tried with basket ball

  12. well start by getting ur physical early in the summer.

then get to practice on time everyday.

as a freshman this year, its not a really big deal that you only missed one year of all 4 seasons.

so when you start tryouts next year just be ready for the coaches to be tough on you.

and dont be nervous, just relax through tryouts.

    ALWAYS have a good attitude.

if the coaches even once notice you have a bad atitude then it goes against you.

just try your hardest, and show the coaches that you want to be there.

and say you do make a freshman team, or "c" team. [depending on how ur school is]

then still try to work hard, cuz the coaches are always looking to move people up.

    good luck next year.

  13. It's all about how much you practice. Just be dedicated and go practice and work out every day so that you can get better and stay in shape until tryouts come around.

  14. I have given some advice when other people have asked this is one that i thought was my best answer (and i did get a best answer for it) so i hope it helps you like it helped them.

    1. practice outside your house everyday and whenever i have free time

    2. (i do not have a net) so i serve against a wall (you can serve wherever)

    3. camps. camps are very important especially if they are with the school you are gonna try out for because they will teach you exactly what you need to know to make that team

    4. try to find an off season team i am looking (and found a couple) very exsperienced club teams to join in my area with good coaches and it will give you a way to get better off season

    6. go to any open gyms your school or the high school offers and play anytime you get the chance even if it is goofing around with people that arent good u can take it serious (and still have fun) with people that arent taking it serious

    7. if you want to be a libero or deffence work especially on passing if you want to be a setter work mainly on setting, blocker blocking and hitting and verticle jump, hitter hitting jump

    8. make sure you have a good consistant serve

    9. watch as many pro, college, or high school games you can so you know what is expected of you

    hope that helps!

  15. what my coach always tells the team to do and especially when we had a long break because of holidays is to bump the ball against a wall or pass to yourself.

or you could ask people on the team or the coach to help you practice or something in the offseason. then in the summer go to a camp that offers volleyball playing or something because that way youll come to school in shape and all that.
