Question:

I want to become a Navy Seal. how should i start?

i know most of you guys are going to say, "go down and talk to your recruiter." but i want to know from you guys and possibly and experience. im 17 currently and in my senior year of high school with a cummulative GPA of 3.3 for all 3 years so far. im a prety fit person with perfect vision, arched feet, no allergies or asthma and no broken bones and i go to the gym quite often. i know becoming a navy seal is the most grueling task of all, but i honestly think im up for the challenge. ive always wanted to do this since i was 10. how should i start? i was thinking of going to a junior college for 2 years to get a general degree out of the way, but im just not sure. if you guys have any information i would love to know. thanks for your input!!!

  1. Join the Navy


  2. Learn to push yourself.

    Run until you can not feel you feet, then keep running until you puke, then keep running....

    Apply the same idea to push-up and pull-ups.

    Learn to go past your boundaries of what you think you can do.

    This is what will be expected of you in BUD/S

  3. You ask the MEPS classifier for a SEALS source rating.

    You tryout in basic training and they have 2 annual tests on the base.

    Passing that test just gets you a seat in BUDS school.

    If you fail you return to your source rating (job).

    2 years of college isn't going to help you.

  4. Train train train every single day for the next 2 years while your getting your degree. If you train hard and have the Mental stability you might make it no guarantees SEALS are like Superhumans. Once you get to BUDS remember never quit! Good Luck

  5. Go to a normal college that has NROTC (Naval Reserve Officer Corps) and choose the SEAL option. This requires talking to theNROTC coordinator at your college. NROTC lets you get your degree at a 4 year college and then join when you graduate. It can also pay for you if you're grades are good enough. When you join you go through all the training of a normal SEAL, but because you did NROTC, you will become a SEAL team leader, or Lt. or something I'm not sure exactly what because I'm not a recruiter, but thats your best option.

  6. Step 1: enjoy the time you have off! Now, go to YMCA or swim coach and learn good sidestroke and breast stroke technique. The whole slow is smooth smooth is fast bit. Concentrate on stroke development and get a workout plan for your pool work. For cardio you do the same thing. Get a log. Establish a regimen that is challenging and makes you a more productive efficient runner. Upper body is important as lots of BUD'S events stress upper body fitness. pull-ups, push-ups, and some weights never hurt. Make sure you are eating right. Taking days off to allow muscle groups to heal and rebuild stronger than before. Everyone who gives you crazy workout tips is a moron. Special Operations use professional strength conditioning coach's to develop their workouts. If you listen to half the stuff pc commando's tell you all you will end up with is an injured body. There is also a warning order designed for BUD'S candidates that is online and it is a basic outline for a workout and calorie intake etc. So it's a good start. Don't go overboard. When you have graduated talk to a SEAL recruiter about getting in under the SEAL challenge program. They have divisions at Great Lakes just for this program now. To give you additional physical preparation prior to arriving at Coronado. Or you could go to college first like you said. Lot's of guys in the Teams have degrees. Not uncommon at all.
