  1. Robert is correct in that to fly for a major airline, you will almost certainly need a 4 year degree. And it doesn't have to be in anything aviation related. You will also need training. The minimum ratings to work for an airline are Commercial multi-engine instrument. The training is quite expensive; usually between $45-75,000 on average. One way you can combine both is to look at aviation centered universities such as North Dakota or Embry-Riddle. Info about them can be found on line easily. You can obtain student loans of course.

After obtaining your ratings you can go to work as a first officer, usually for a regional airline to start with until you build up a few hours. Some majors might take you with fewer hours but most prefer a fair amount of hours before they will hire you.

Work hard and study hard. If you don't attend an aviation university, try to at least obtain your private pilot's certificate while in college and then move on from there.

  2. jet blue isnt big.

get an aerospace engineering degree or go straight into gaining hours and earning a PPL (private pilots license)

  3. Pick a nice school and get a 4 year degree first. There are really no airlines that hire pilots without a 4 year degree. I would recommend you study something other than aviation since airline pilots today rarely fly full time. Most airline pilots today have side jobs because the industry is very, very unstable. Study engineering or business.
