The only qualification I currently have is PADI Open Water. Should I stick with PADI? And very roughly how much will it cost to get me to instructor level?

Thanks!

  1. hi PADI is the best way forward, now you have your open water. look in your open water book and at the back there should be a section on what other qualification your need . they best thing is to go to the nearest padi training centre and they will give you all the information  on cost and how long it will take.

Ps i dont know were you are but the dive centre in Oxford on the  Abingdon road is excellent

  2. It's up to you if you'd like to stay with PADI or not. Personally, since you have easy access to BSAC, I'd do your training with them, since their courses may be a little more intensive,  they also tend to produce a more knowledgeable diver. But...it's a comfort thing. You may find you like the instructors from a local PADI better than the local BSAC or vice versa. Your cost to get to Instructor level in either cert is going to vary. Some dive shops will allow a sort of internship that will bring costs down substantially, allowing you to work off some of the course fees. Some won't do this. Each dive shop will also charge their own fee for each course, which can also vary considerably. You'll just need to do some homework to find what is best going to meet your own needs and expectations.

Everyone is different. I like brussell sprouts...you might not. Get the idea?
