  1. Aww

That was the highlight of my day

  2. If you want to be a shuttle pilot, join the Air Force.  If you want to be a mission specialist, get a science, engineering, or teaching degree, work in the field for a few years, and then apply to the yearly astronaut training program at NASA.

  3. Study everything you can right now in math and science. If you are up to it, join the Air Force or Navy and become a pilot if you intend to command a mission. Otherwise, if the military is not for you, become a doctor, astronomer, physicist or engineer. Space programs the world over are staffed by people who have these qualifications, and many astronauts are also astronomers, doctors, engineers or physicists. Story Musgrave, the leader of the team who saved Hubble from an early death back in 1993, is both a doctor and an engineer as well as an astronaut. If you join the military and get into an aviation program, you will not only learn skills NASA wants, the military will help you get your college education. Many people who are in the space program hold multiple degrees in more than one field, or are both current or former military pilots and a doctor, scientist or engineer. You will need at least a PhD level education, and you need to excel in your chosen field(s). Also, good leadership, people and crisis management skills will serve you well in your endeavor to become an astronaut.
