I want to become a certified tefl teacher through an online program?

I spent three months teaching English in Costa Rica as a volunteer through wonderful PROJECTS ABROAD! I really want to go back to Costa Rica, this time I want to be paid. Is there a good program were I can get certified online? I really loved being in Costa Rica specifically because there were lots of volunteers we always socialized, and traveled together. Is there a program where I can get certified here in the states but then go down to Costa Rica, and be around other Tefl teachers?

Be careful with online programs.  You will want to check with the local teacher licensing office to make sure that your university is seen as a credited educational place.

Some of the programs that are advertised online are diploma mills.  You can spend the time and money on them and your diploma won't be recognized by the state licensing boards.

The only thing that I can suggest that you do is go online and Google "Teacher Certification Online Programs' And then see what you pull up after that. They should have some good programs that would suit you perfectly.

Also you may want to look for the "Teacher Certification" requirements with the Costa Rica Board of Education. You do however have to complete a IN-PERSON student teaching period. Rather your program is online or not.

You will have to do student teaching with the Costa Rica Board of Education. And have a certified teacher grade you. She will basically watch you teach for a few days.

So you may want to go online and go to a few websites and look up the information that I have just given you. I think then you will find something that will be affordable and worth your time.
