I want to become a famous pop/r&b pianist kind of like Alicia Keys, what should I do?

I really love playing the piano and I've been trained classically but I don't like playing classical piano all that much. I'd like to accompany famous singers and tour with them and stuff. I know it's ambitious but I want to know how to get started on a career like that.

You can start by accompanying people at local solo contests, or in the schools.  There are alot of opportunities to accompany people in college as well, if you have access to a campus nearby.  You have to be discovered, or have connections.  Get in touch with your local music organization, or look in the classifieds for bands wanting a keyboardist.  I would like to do the same thing. I absolutely love doing it.  It's not very often, only when someone needs me to, but I really like it. I'm also married with kids and have a full time job, so it's not as likely for me to do that anymore.  Good Luck.  Best Wishes!!! I hope your dreams come true!!!
