Question:

I want to become a flight attendant?

Hey. Well I’m a 17 year old teen girl in South Florida and I would love to be a flight attendant in the future. There’s just one problem, I’m home schooled. Can I still become a flight attendant? Some of my friends said I might need to get a GED after I graduate since airlines require you to have a diploma. I just don’t know what to do and my mom doesn’t know if any airline would hire a home schooled graduate or not.

  1. I'm guessing the article on Yahoo news maybe told you a little something? That maybe you could've helped that woman or flight attendants aren't doing enough? Whatever the deal is, it doesn't matter why you chose it, but that you follow it and achieve it. Call a flight attendant service or an airline and ask. I'm sure they don't judge by your schooling style.

  2. I tried to help. I found a site you can check out.

Another idea would be to call the airline you are

considering to work at. They can help you answer more

    questions you might have.

Good Luck to you and hope your dream comes true.

  3. Sure you can.

Your homeschool diploma (that your parent's or online school would give you) counts just *the same* as from any other school.

You do NOT need a GED.  A homeschool high school diploma is fine.  Employers do not discriminate because of educational opportunity/experience.

You would just need to get the proper training and skills.  I recommend you find a job, or volunteer position, in the hospitality field (restaurants, travel, tourism) to get some experience and customer service skills "under your belt".

  4. No matter what career you chose or which school you go on to you are going to need some kind of GED or diploma, home schooled or not.

Each airline has their own training school and requirements for applying with them. Go look at the web sites for airlines that you would like to work for and see what their requirements are so you can plan accordingly.

  5. Do not get a GED. Most colleges and tech schools consider that to be a cop out. Just have your Mom issue you a diploma and transcripts to whatever program you plan on getting into. They also have websites that will help you with what to write on transcripts and diplomas.
