I want to become a preschool teacher and i have my G.E.D can i still become one?

im gonna enroll in college and get all the degrees required for certification. i just wasnt sure if i had to have an actual high school diploma, or if i could still follow my dream with a ged.

  1. It may depend on where you live. If you want to be in charge of the classroom as Lead Teacher you will probably need at least a 2 year degree or a CDA, maybe more. If you are thinking about public school Pre-K you will need a 4 year degree and teacher certification. Why not start at a Community College for a two year degree?


  2. Yes you can still become one as preschool teacher.

Of course, a GED is the same as a high school diploma and most colleges see it that way as well...just enroll in a accredited college for preschool education...most universities have a education corriculum....and go to college and take the general education courses and boom...take your state teaching test and you should be good to go...teachers are great and you would enjoy teaching others....best of luck melissa

  4. No.  You can become a teachers assistant.  Most preschools nowadays are requiring that you at least have 60 college credits or CDA certification.  If you start college and then get a job at a preschool, most preschools will give you tuition reimbursement.  You should look into it!
