Question:

I want to become a pro race car driver?

I just started karting at BeaveRun in PA this year. I have only drove 3 or 4 times and I am already running just as fast as the leader or even faster. This guy John Walko charges 20,000 dollars for expierience drivers to race a star mazda for one weekend. I don't have that kind of money in my pockets. My parents together make about 130,000 dollars a year. I just want to know how to make it big time and earn a living off of it. I prefer open wheel or road-racing.

Thanks, Zack Knotts

  1. The odds of making a living off of racing are slim and none, but it can be done if you are smart and talented. After only four races and you think you are good enough, you need to think again. Cold, harsh reality is that the world is full of really great drivers that won't get the right opportunity to succeed. You can have a good career, but you've got a long way to go. Check out this site for some options http://iwannagoracing.com/  Your best bet is Skip Barber racing school.

  2. Depends on how soon you need it! BEG your parents if you can  borrow (like a loan!) some money and if you win share winnings. If not a win- take a good job that pays a lot!
