record songs and write music or start a band you would be easily famous!

I don't think that you want to a singer - I think you are are looking for celebrity.  Getting on TV or in a magazine is easy (I've done it umpteen times). Being a talented singer is another thing entirely.

To  get in a magazine as a model you need a portfolio and and agency.  To get in a magazine as a rising star you need an good agent and a good marketing department.

Youtube and myspace.

Record a demo if you can.

try and get gigs.

and try to get your music everywhere you can online etc..

...go to clubs with karaoke and start volunteering to sing....if you see customers clamoring for more.....then give them more....until you become a frequent guest....and from there, a talent scout might spot you....

....join local singing contests...or

...audition for American Idol....

youtube actually is a good place to begin. talent shows also. get in the studio and start your demo.
