I want to become a sports medicine physician. Is it possible that I can just complete a pre med program ?

before I apply for med school or do I have to have a degree to go along with the pre med program? I am located in Houston, TX (school/program suggestions will be greatly appreciated).

  1. While it is technically possible to get into a medical school without getting a BS, it is very unusual.  You will need to get a degree.


  2. A "pre-med" program does mean a degree, one in which you focus on science-related courses.  Can be bioengineering, microbiology, sports physiology, or any other major with substantial science.  You take the MCAT and then apply to med school.  Baylor is great if you can get in, but any good UT campus would be fine if they have a good life sciences program.
