I'm trying to figure out what college to go to in NC and how much of my time/wk going to school would take because I also need to work part time. I'd like to get through school earlier than 4 yrs if possible. Also do schools hire teachers who get their education from an online college.

  1. YES everyone has to do it and you'll be no different unless you want to be a teachers aide instead. However, if you already have a bachelors degree you can get into the epi program and do it that way. That generally takes anywhere from 2-3 semesters.

As for the online colleges forget about it! Usually they are a lot more expensive and you don't get the support you can from just going on campus!

  2. Yup.

You can cut down on the time by getting aggressive your freshman and sophomore years; take extra classes.

    Forget about online.

Check out the programs in the UNC system, pick the one closest to home.

Now the big thing: It is a heckuva lot of work, and the paycheck/time ratio stinks. Do you love SCHOOL enough to put at least 2 years of full time study into a career ?

  3. If you take full time classes you can finish early. I'm a teacher I finished in a little under 4 years because I would take 6 or 7 courses at one time not to mention you have to complete practica so working part time might be hard good luck.

I dont know about the whole online thing, but doesn't sound too good to me.

  4. yes

  5. To be honest with you, what you are proposing will be very hard to do. To finish a Bachelor's degree in less then four years (and btw, many students now take five years to earn one) will mean that you would have to take more then the maximum credits allowed per semester, and/or take classes during the summer. Taking extra credits, and many of them at the  end will be difficult, time consuming teacher education courses, will mean, you will not have time to work. You are not allowed to work during your student teaching at all.

So in fact, if you need to work and go to school at the same time, it will probably take you longer then four years to get a BA.

As far as online colleges, you would have to check with the state department of education to see if those credentials are acceptable at schools.
