All beans and legumes are rich sources of protein, including lentils, peas, peanuts, chickpeas, black beans, pinto beans, navy beans, kidney beans, adzuki beans, etc.  Whole grains are a great source, nuts and seeds, vegetables (especially dark green ones,) pretty much *all* plant foods have at least some protein.  Plus, if you're still going to eat them, eggs and dairy have protein.  It's near impossible to eat a varied vegetarian diet and come up short.

    If you're looking to avoid soy, there's a meat sub called seitan which is made from the gluten in wheat flour.  Since all the starch is rinsed away, the final product is almost pure protein.
