I have more than $50 to spend. I am interested in getting a textbook to read through, to get a head start. I am going to be a Freshman in high school, I am sure I want to do this, and I have a very high reading level. My knowledge about anatomy is very limited though, which is why I wanted to do this. Any recommendations on a book?

  1. Make sure everyone knows about how horrid national Brands of food are.  and make sure they don't over feed them.  its stupid, we have complete control over the animals feeding times and still I see obese dogs.

and funny its usually people in poverty that over feed.  Ya think they would want to not waste there money.  Or maybe they are that way because they are dumb.

    getting off topic.

GOOD LUCK!  I Hope you make a huge difference.

you can do this at a shelter as well. :)

just tell them  get any food avoiding these : "corn, wheat, soy, artificial flavor/color, by-product meats and recommend chicken, rather than beef or lamb.

okay well, I don't know anything about books, if just do all my research on the internet itself.

  2. You really need to be sure that your grades are exceptional(if you get that 4.0 that would be the first step). You need to take difficult classes, and make sure you do plenty of after school activities. You really want to focus on doing well in high school, so you can get into an ivy league school.

Vet schools are difficult to get into, so you will need to get into a good undergrad college/university, and maintain a high gpa. Make sure you know the qualification you need to get into grad school for veterinary medicine.

While it is great to begin with text books, it is far more important to study and put effort into your current subjects and leave the studying of veterinary books until college.

  3. Great idea! I hope you do it!  First,  continue to study and get good grades.  Do some research on colleges that teach veterinary science. Look up what they require for admission.

Find out what scholarships you may qualify for and how to apply for them. Ask your school counselor.

STAY FOCUSED !!  It's a lot of very hard work to get there but it is worth every moment!

Talk to vets in your area. Ask them if you can volunteer for them and tell them of your goal.  They will be a great source of information and support.

  4. i am a sophmore and i want to be a vet FOR SURE lol

i talked to someone and they said to do a lot of extra science and math study and classes. also do extra things outside of school like being a vet assistant.. ( you have to be 18 years old i think to do this) and also work at pet stores

:) good luck!! and make sure to keep your grades up lol :)

  5. Not really, but anything concerning anatomy, physiology, and reproduction would be helpful.  Behavioral texts or training books can be helpful too, especially when distinguishing between behavioral and medical problems.

  6. First, find some vet schools and see what High school courses you need. You will need Biology, Chemistry and possibly Physics. You will also probably need Math, and English. You still have time to get the courses you need.

For a book, find a book list for a vet class. The schools may have a list available. A library may have some books that would help you.
