The only college that i know that practices in veterinary medicine is UC DAVIS...oh and i live in california...i want to devote my life to saving animals. and after i finish college i want to open a low income vet clinic/animal shelter for people who cant afford to pay so much and to take in sick, injured, and homeless animals. So if you can please tell me what steps i should take to reach my dream. Thank you and God bless you for your help

  1. You'll need to get good grades in college, have good relationships with your professors since they will be writing recommendations, and get as much work experience with animals as possible.  Preferably assisting in a vet's office, but any job working with animals is a must.  Vet School is very competitive and you will need pretty close to a 4.0, along with good recommendations and work experience to get in successfully.  Here is a nice chart of the courses you will need to take in order to get into each US vet school: http://www.aavmc.org/vmcas/documents/Pre...

  2. Before you think about veterinary school, concentrate on getting good grades in high school, and then a good 4 year college.  Plan on taking a lot of courses in the sciences.  By the time you are ready for vet school, you will know of a lot of good ones all over the country.

In the meantime, you should volunteer with a low income clinic or animal shelter to get a feel for what it's like to work with animals in tough situations.
