Well, I am 16 years old and I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY want to become an actor. I just LOVE watching movies, and I want to be apart of that "scene". But... I know it's going to be VERY VERY hard... EXTREMELY Hard, at that.

Another disadvantage is, I'm kinda of a shy guy. Untill you get to know me..that is. I always jumble up words, and mispronounce them. I just...don't know what to do. =\

Thanks

  1. FIRST OF ALL - YOU HAVE THE REAL DESIRE - WHICH IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING BECAUSE BEING AN ACTOR AND ACTUALLY GOING OUT AND TAKING CLASSES AND AND GOING TO MANY, MANY AUDITIONS BEFORE YOU GET WORK  IS HARD AND CAN BE DISCOURAGING.

BUT DON'T WORRY ABIUT BEING SHY - MANY, MANY  FAMOUS ACTORS ARE ACTUALLY VERY SHY IN REAL LIFE AWAY FROM THE CAMERAS. LOTS OF ACTORS HAD DIFFICULTY SPEAKING CLEARLY AND DISTINCTLY AND EVEN STUTTERED  ( LIKE JAMES EARL JONES " DARTH VADER" OF "STAR WARS") WHEN THEY WERE YOUNGER BEFORE THEY TOOK SPEECH LESSONS AND OR DICTION CLASSES.

JUST HAVE FAITH IN YOURSELF AND FOLLOW YOUR DREAM. ACTING CLASSES WILL HELP YOU OVERCOME A LOT OF YOUR SHYNESS AND GETTING ON A STAGE OR IN FRONT OF A CAMERA IN SCHOOL PRODUCTIONS WILL HELP A LOT TOO.

EVEN OLYMPIC ATHLETES HAD TO START SOMEWHERE AND SO DO YOU. HAVE FUN, WORK HARD, AND GOOD LUCK!

  2. well let me tell ya..

acting is hard.. atleast you know that

    well.. what helps ALOT

is if you have an agent

(you could join an acting agencie for that)

    but theyre REALLY expensive..

what they basically do is, tell you about auditions for shows, commercials, ect..

then you go to the auditions (theres usally ALOT of people at the auditons)

    you act out a monologue

    (usually u choose it)

while ur acting i think they review your reseme

(btw.. u have to have stuff to put in your reseme.. like

went to acting school for 3 years. or.. got a part as an extra in ________ movie....ect..)

the more stuff u have the better..

its REALLY hard, and ur probably even gonna want to give up, after being rejected so many times, but if its something u TRULY want then u should keep doing it... no matter how many times the door slames in your face.

    GOOD LUCK!!

ohh! and u also need "head shots" to give to the poeple your auditioning for

(theyre just close up pictures of your face, but theyre done professionaly)

  3. I know how you feel, acting is my passion but I have this horrible awkward shyness, but that's where the acting talent comes in handy. Just act your way through any situation that you can feel yourself shying away from.

Once you've got that mastered work towards finding a good Talent Agent. It can be costly at first especially when you have to buy a head shot which can be pricey, but it's well worth it. I would suggest joining a theatre group to help build your confidence around others. It can be pretty intimidating I won't lie to you, but after a while you can relax and enjoy it, and once you start getting auditions all your shyness goes away.

Good luck , hope I was of some help :)

  4. if you do, could you lend me some money

  5. You say you want to become an actor, but you are doing everything to convince yourself that you should not do that. Look at what you wrote!

That is unbelievable negative language for someone who says they want to do anything.

This is a perfect example for others to learn from who believe that the first things to do to become an actor are to get a head shot and a resume and try to get an agent. You can do that, but if you have not training, no experience and above all, if you have a negative attitude, because you don't believe in yourself, you will never, ever make it.

So my advice to you is to first and foremost change your way of thinking and start to be more positive. Ok. You might have some things that you don't do very well. We all do, but you have to start believing in yourself. Get some help with the jumbling of the words and the pronunciation. Get some help with your shyness, but don't keep dragging yourself down and talking about how EXTREMELY hard it is.

It is difficult, but be positive.

First of all, I changed my life to become an actor, author, seminar leader and motivational speaker in two countries, Italy and the U.S. I could have never left a solid career with a leading company if I didn't believe in myself. Today, I'm doing all the things that I always wanted to do, acting, I wrote a book, I do seminars for large audiences and I speak at big events.

So here ìs what I suggest you do before you do anything else. Start taking classes, either in school and/or outside of school. Find a good acting school with a good teacher and stay there. That will help you with the two things you mentioned above. AND it will help you to see if you really have what it takes or not.

Then, while you are doing that, start studying what it really means to become an actor. Have a look at this page on my website for new and aspiring actors. http://www.actingcareerstartup.com/teen_...

On it you will find 23 links to pages that have to do with different aspects of starting an acting career including 23 reasons why acting classes are so important and what they can do for you to help you both for acting and in life, how to find and choose a good acting school and steps to get your acting career started.

    I hope this helped you.

Believe in yourself. Because if you don't no one else will!

    Good luck!

    Tony
