Is this a good career path to take.

Correction Officer while being in college Maj- Criminal Justice?

After what kind of experience would I need to become an agent?

I too have BSCJ and was told by FBI recruiters that they did not want CJ degrees.  They prefer Law or Accounting or other professional degrees.  But your best bet is to contact the FBI and ask.  Your work experience might count for something.  I was just finishing school.

from what i hear that is good and you just need to ask around people you know are in the law enforcement to get in. I dont think you need any expierience other than a degree in law

Criminal Justice major, it would seem your professor or instructor would best answer these questions for you. Or maybe you should take a real computer course, learn how search for the information you need. A old and growing tool for criminal justice. For the FBI, try FBI.gov for it's requirements. The FBI usually wants lawyers, accountants, and psychologists. With a limited knowledge of criminal justice, you might qualify a a crime scene investigator. Those are a dime a dozen. For information about corrections officer, visit the site, Department of Corrections.gov in the state in which you wish to apply.

Nine times out of ten,most agents have a Masters degree in Law or Criminal Justice. But you can still get into the academy with a Bachelors degree.

it's a very respectable career path, and i don't think you'd need anything more than a law degree. and some type of martial arts training would be very beneficial, but not required.

I think you still have to have a law degree or one in accounting. In any case, the FBI is a heinous instrument of oppression. They are totally incompetent. They hound Martha Stewart on a $100 infraction. Meanwhile, illegal alien gangs behead people with impunity. They are lazy, self-dealing, jack booted thugs. They let the Moslem terrorists take out 3000 of our people, and $7 trillion from our economy, but harass doctors for coding errors on Medicare bills. Just a side note, a J.D. or graduate degree will greatly improve your chances of getting into the academy, but you don't need to be a lawyer or hold a graduate degree to be a special agent.  That being said, you do need a college degree (and to improve your chances it should be from at least a tier two school), a great grade point average and depending on your degree, a few years of professional experience, i.e., experience you gain after you get your college degree.
