  1. Hi:

For more detail see the links below. BUt as far as the ratings go you will need

    -private fixed wing

    - commercial fixed wing

    - instrument rating

    - multi engine rating

ATP rating once you upgrade to captain

most liekely you willl need to get a flight instructor rating in order to build time. ... there are several levels

CFI, CFII , Multi Enhine CFI

In the first few years dont epect to make more than about $20,000/year working for a regional airline, in the $60,000 range as a regional captain .... when you move  to a larger airline epect a significant paycut again until your 2nd or 3rd year (you will start as first officer again)

some of the major airlines pay up to $200,000/year

Its agood time to get started right now .. the airlines are actively hiring. I have heard of regional airlines hiring people with as little as 8hrs of multi engine time

  2. The other posters have outlined the different certifications required. Just keep in mind that there are a number of ways to go about getting these - University/College Aviation Program, local flight school or you could separately go through the military.

With regards to the potential salary, have a look at http://airlinepilotcentral.com/ to get a good idea of what the airlines pay their pilots. While the high end salaries are quite good, it can take a number of years to get to that level. Being a pilot can be really rewarding, but is generally really low paying for the first few years.

  3. To become an airline pilot you need a Bachelor Degree in any subject and a few basic certificates, in the following order:

    Medical Certification and

    1-Private Pilot License

    2-Instrument Rating

    3-Commercial Pilot License

    4-Multi-Engine Rating

    5-Certified Flight Instructor Certificate (Optional)

Completing all these will require you at least 6 months if you put a lot of effort on it. It all depends on how fast you can learn.

Your first years as a pilot will be really hard... you will be making between 20k to 30k's.... after years of experience and becoming CAPTAIN of an airline, you can earn between 50k to 300k a year.

    Hope this helps!

  4. Depends on the pilot certificate you want to obtain. No college degree required, but lots of flight training. All require a passing score on FAA written exams, as well as a flight test with an FAA examiner. To become an airline pilot, you will need around 1000 hours of PIC (pilot in command) time and at the very least 50 hours of multiengine time. You will need your Commercial Multiengine certificate, along with a passing score on the ATP (Airline Transport Pilot) written exam. To be an airline captain, you will have to obtain and maintain a 1st class medical certificate as well. Flight training is very expensive. This is a VERY basic and brief rundown, but you get the idea.

  5. To be hired as a co-pilot you will need a commercial license with an instrument rating.  Could get these in about 3 or 4 months, if you have lots of money.  To be promoted to Captain you will need an ATP rating.  Top pay with the good old carriers can be as much as 2 to 3 hundred thousand per year.
