I want to become an emt/fireman but i have a felony conviction any suggestions?

my felony is 5yrs old, it happened in minnesota i know live in georgia, ive held high positions since such as area director of sales for the last 5 yrs, my felony was a federal offense possession of counterfeit currency, 2yrs probation. i would like to know all my options, about emt/fireman or paramedic? please help!!

  1. It really depends on the requirements of the locality in which you apply. The only thing you've got going is that it wasn't a drug or s*x offense.

  3. .  FOr sure you can be EMT.  Also Fireman if you truly have been good for 5 years.  The budget cutbacks are your biggest problem.

  4. Quite honestly, your chances are slim. Paramedics and firefighters are held to a high moral standard. If you go through backgrounds in any large department it will definitely pose a problem. I would check with your state ems and find out what the regulations are for that state and NREMT.com

    As far as background, check out firecareers.com under the bulletin board, it has a lot of good info. Your best bet might be forest service as their background might be a bit less stringent and then transfer from there. Good luck.
