I want to become energy independent. Can anyone help me with Solar energy installation know how for my home?

Do let me know how / company referrals on Solar Cells that must be cost effective so I can use energy from the Sun and become energy independent, thereby not feeling guilty of polluting the earth.

Energy INDEPENDENT? Your house isn't properly equipped if it's already built. Also, solar panels are more than a little expensive. Plus, they're not the only way that you can produce/save energy.

You'd need an efficiently insulated home to prevent energy/heat loss, you'd have to switch appliances to low energy useage appliances, switch your heating options to radiant rather than forced hot air (more cost effective)..among other things.

Going out and layering your rooftop with thousands of dollars worth of solar panels is also not going to help much in, say, the dark.

It's a freeconomy site, the idea is that people use their skills to help out people they don't know for free. (and make new friends) I know that in my area there are some people with amazing skills including solar energy installers. Join and see if there is anyone who can help you.

If there isn't an installer there is bound to be someone with knowledge to help you further.

I commend you for wanting to save the earth, but unless you have unlimited amount Of money it is not cost effective at the moment.  Best you educate your self on the present systems then you can have a better make use of our present technologies.  

Present thermosiphion solar hot water systems can save a lot of energy and are very cost effective.  

The solar panels that make electricity are very expensive and need to be back up by wind generators.  

The hydrogen technology is very new and may make a breakthrough soon.  

Newer engines and motors are getting more efficient my new inventors and that is worth looking into.
