  1. Hello,

Southwest Airlines allows you to check two bags free of charge, with a weight limit of no more than 50 pounds each. Any bags above 50 pounds are subject to an additional charge (51 to 70 pounds = $25.00, 71 to 100 pounds = $50.00). The maximum size for both checked bags is 62 inches (the total of length+width+height).

Your carryon bag may not exceed 10x16x24 inches. There is no weight limit for carryons.

If you would like to bring your XBox 360, it is recommended to keep it in your carryon bag as you suggested. I would like to suggest that you wrap it in a layer of bubble-wrap, which can be purchased at almost any convenience store or post office.

    Good luck and happy flying!

  2. DEFINITELY DO NOT CHECK IT. It has a high theft rate and its considered "limited liability" which means if it gets stolen or damaged they will basically not cover the total replacements cost or even in some cases, ANY of its replacement costs (depends on the airline). And with anything checked, there are SEVERAL spots along the path to/from the plane it can get stolen.

With that being said, TSA (the security folks) have no problem with you taking a xbox 360 provided the bag you are carrying on still fits in Southwest Airlines overhead bin dimensions.

You are allowed to carry-on one small carry-on bag usually under 20 lbs and one "personal" item (laptop, purse, etc.).
