I want to build a BIG electric motor (car motor)?

where can i get high powered genorator (that is broken) so i can use it for parts? obviously i know i can go to a retail store and buy one but i figure i can get one cheap since i don't need it to work at all all i want are the magnets and the housing!

why bother building an electric motor for a car when many are available now? mother earth news has plans for swapping a starter motor/generator from a DC10 into an automobile.

really where will you get the electricity to charge the batteries?  from the coal burning powerpland 20miles down the road...
