  1. Depends on what you want to spend. Try an Asus Rampage Formula X48 board, an Intel E8400 or 8500 Core 2 Duo, Antec 900 case, 4GBs of Corsair Dominator DDR2 1066 ram, Fast hard drive--Raptor if you can afford one--2 in Raid0 even better. Put a Corsair 550watt PSU in

with an ATI 4870. Add some exotic air cooling too. It will game really nice. I just built a rig like that but with 2 4870s in Crossfire Running 2 Raptors in Raid. E8500 is clocked at 3.8 24/7 (9.5X400--1600FSB) and it goes over 4 easy when benchmarking. Owns Crysis--plays at very high in Vista with DX10 and Nomad never slows down. Put Vista in. You want DX10 on a rig like that. Dont worry about people whining about how slow Vista is--it wont be on that rig. I have an XP gamer too with a big dual Extreme but it collects dust while people play Crysis, COD4, Lost Planet, Bioshock(beautiful graphics) etc in DX 10 on the Vista gamer. Vista plays every game worth playing. Games depend on 1--video card  2--ram  3--cpu in that order, Take good  care of those 3 and you'll have a nice gamer.

  2. I can certainly lead you down the right path parts wise:

Go to www.newegg.com and browse the parts sections. Sort the parts by best rated and thumb through them. This will make sure that they all fit together.

    Step 1: Processor

A good processor will define the speed of your comptuer. The latest technology is Core 2 Duo or Quad technology by Intel - I'm personally not a fan of the ATI Phenom line at this time.

Be sure to note the FSB and the Socket Type

    Step 2: Video Card

Your video card will largely determine how well your games will run. A good budget card is the 9600 GT - one that's more popular is the 8800GT.

Write down the slot that the card uses - PCI, PCI-E (and x16 or whatever), or AGP

    Step 4: Sound Card

Budget: Sound Blaster Audigy SE 7.1

Better: Sound Blaster XtremeGamer or HT Omega

Write down the slot that this card uses.

    Step 5: Hard Drive

Hard drive spin speed is done in RPM, 7200 is standard. Then look for size.

Make sure it's SATA 3.0 - usually shouldn't be an issue

    Step 6: Motherboard

Just pick one with good ratings. Keep the following in mind.

Make sure your motherboard has a slot for your sound card and video card. If you plan on using SLI, get a motherboard that supports SLI.

Match the socket type of your CPU to your motherboard. Also, match the FSB.

It should use SATA 3.0 to support your hard drive.

    Step 7: Power Supply

Don't skimp on your power supply - get 500W minimum from a reputable company. I use the 600W GameXStream myself.

    Step 8: Case

Check your motherboard - is it micro ATX, ATX, or full ATX? Make sure that your case can fit your motherboard. Other than that, just go for looks (the Antec 900 has amazing airflow as does the Cooler Master Cosmos)

    Step 9: CPU Cooler

Make sure the socket type of the cooler matches that of the CPU itself. The CPU cooler is an important investment as it protects one of the most important parts.

The Zalman 9700 is a good air cooler. The Tuniq 120 is arguably the best CPU cooler you can get, but make sure it fits in your case.

    Other things to consider:

Optical Drive, Floppy Drive, Operating System

    Hope that helped!

    Shameless Plug to Myself:

I'm willing to sell you an amazing gaming computer that I built for a friend. Unfortunately, he's hit upon tough times and couldn't go through with the deal. I'm leaving to go to the University of California at Berkeley in a couple days and I can't bring it with me.

At this point, I'm just trying to break even on the computer. I overclocked it to 4.0 GHz and it's absolutely stable. It can run Crysis with no problems on high. World of Warcraft can run at up to 300 FPS.

You would pay me only the price of the parts (978.70) as well as shipping and paypal fees.

For more information you can see my eBay listing:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...

If you (or anyone else) is interested in this computer, please contact me ASAP at evan.kim.390@gmail.com

It needs to move before I leave - I'm not even looking for profit at this point. Consider it a favor of sorts; I built it and overclocked it for free.

  3. this is a good book/guide

    http://www.dummies.com/WileyCDA/DummiesT...

try buying it or just search the name on google with free at the end u should be able to get a free download if your lucky, good luck ;) hope this helped

  4. Okay this all depends on what you want to do Id recommend you do a custom build , Alienware charges 1000$ or more extra then what you can build it yourself for.........

    Coolmaster Case

Samsung Monitor - 19inches or bigger

    Razor Mouse

    Zboard Keyboard

    ASUS Motherboard

INTEL CPU (3 ghz or better)

100mm Fans (8 of them if your using coolmaster)

    Fata1ty Sound Card

    Raptor 150 gig 10,000 RPM Hard-drives

800 Watt Power Supply or better Id recommend Antec for Power supply units

  5. First off here are two good tutorials on how to build them and what you need.

Then to get you parts I recommend that you go to Newegg.com and if buy for some chance they don't have what you need, go to TigerDirect.com.

But to get you started on a place to look you need:

    Processor

    Motherboard

    Video Card

    Hard Drive

    RAM

    Disc Drive

    Operating System

    Power supply

Case (can come with built in power supply so you dont need to buy one)

And If you plan on making a hardcore computer you will need extra fans/heat sinks/or liquid cooling.

Also let me in on what type of computer you are building and i can recommend a good configuration, Like hardcore or casual gaming.

  6. go buy one and save all the drama
