  1. look if in need of games get mario and sonic at olympic games but do not get the little tennis racket tht u slot the wii remote into makes it much more dangerous also buy something like endless ocean very educational with fun for all the family mabye not ur husband but more or less a good game ive got it myself also u could purchase one of the classic crash bandicoot games called crash of the titan absolutely loads of fun when he gets to my age(13)  he will want to purchase games like red steel (a ninja game) husband will love that game.

  2. The games that I really like are: Wii Sports, Mario Kart, Smash Brothers, and Mario Party 8. Your son might enjoy Super Mario Gallaxy (I found that it was too hard).

  3. Well one game that is guaranteed to get the fun started is Super Smash Bros Brawl. It is rated T for Teen however it's no where near the violence level of Mortal Combat. There is NO blood or guts in this game, only hitting nintendo characters around with objects. Its a really fun game and your son will really like it. Its multi player and he can play with other people through wifi. Another game is Super Mario Galaxy. It may be a bit hard for him but he'll get the hang of it and really enjoy it. This game has an E rating meaning its for any age. Hope your son will enjoy his wii if you manage to buy one :)

  4. well for an 8 year old boy he might be interested in games like super smash bros. brawl, super mario galaxy, if u live by a game stop there are alot of nice games you can get for just about any age.

  5. Just to make this easy, I'll explain basics of the Wii to you as easy as possible. You are getting this for a child, so I will explain this as if to a child, therefor you can decide what is best for him. Eight-year-olds rarely care about the processing power, wattage, and Fps, so we'll leave that stuff out.

First, Wii systems still come packaged with Wii Sporsts, so as soon as you get the thing, you're ready to play. Packaged with the standard system, you get the console(the Wii itself), the stand(you can display it lying down or on it's side), all the regular cables(if you have an HD tv, you can buy the necessary cables seperate, it comes standard with the red/white/yellow A/V cables), the sensor bar, manuals, one Wii remote, and one nunchuck attachment.

After you get the Wii, I would suggest getting at least one more Wii remote and nunchuck(sold seperately). Ideally, you should have one for each member of the family. Wii remotes(Wiimotes, to some people) usually run you about $40. Nunchucks are about $20. I suggest this because the Wii is great to play with the child. It's awesome to have mom, dad, and child, maybe grandma and grandpa, too, all playing a game of bowling or baseball.

The Wiimotes take 2 AA batteries each, nunchuck and similar attachments run off of the wiimotes batteries. Rechargable batteries are your friend... There are special lighted stands for your wiimotes to charge in but those are third-party and not necessary. AA batteries work just fine, but you'll go through them quick.

Most new Wii systems have the new controller gloves packaged with them. These are sleeve things that fit over the wiimote and are made of a soft plastic-jelly substance. They are for comfort and extra grip. They are fairly easy to put on and take off. If you require replacements, you can order them from Nintendo's website temporarily free of charge.

Games suited for a small child are easy to find with the Wii, but sometimes they are still complicated and can be frustrating for some children. The type of games your kid plays are important, too.

The following is a list of games you could research to decide if they're right for your child:

    Speed Racer the videogame

    Cooking Mama

Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games

    Wii Play (great family game)

    Mario Kart Wii

    Carnival Games

    Elebits

    Endless Ocean

    Rayman Raving Rabbids

Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy(rated E10+, but alot of little kids watch the show and the game is essentially the same)

Ultimate Board Game Collection(another great family game)

Nintendo has created a series of games called Touch Generations designed to be simple and fun for everyone. Alot of them are great family games. You can try looking through that library, also. Most of them are for the DS, but I've seen a few Wii titles with the logo on the front, too. The logo looks like a little yellow box with a white G being drawn in the center(Big Brain Academy - Wii Degree is one).

I hope this helps out. If you have any other questions about the Wii, I'm glad to help. I'm no expert, but I've got a pretty good idea of what I'm talking about.
