  1. You gave the wrong info.

    Lemme guess...automatic transmission.

Mazda auto trans are junk.  You can google up the subject, that'll only prove the point.  A friend of mine has 3 626's in the family, I believe all three had at least one trans replacement...these are all around 2000+ model year cars!

You decide, knowing that, how you want to deal with this.

    Solid car, but junk trans.

  2. Transmissions are costly and a rebuild can be anywhere from 2000 to 3000...getting a used transmission in good condition is usually not much less since the used trans will usually cost about what the parts and labor cost in a rebuild...i would find a car that does not have transmission problems...Good Luck

  3. My mom drives a Mazda it was a great car and she kept up good maintenance. Never gave her a problem until about 6 months to a year ago. Now, its one problem after another. It does the jerking thing too, it shakes when you stop at the stop light, even in park, and must be in Neutral not to shake. Her car is a Mazda 626 LX 1999. So, I'd say "NO" to you purchasing this Mazda because the up keep will be extremely expensive and probably not worth it.

  4. Jerking during acceleration is usually an engine problem. Can be caused by something as simple as a bad spark plug. Did the seller have any documentation about a recent engine tune-up?

If she has receipts for the transmission change, it is not likely that you have a transmission problem. If you gave her a deposit for this car, she is not obliged to return it if you back out on the sale.

  5. Tell her the transmission is busted and you will give her another $1000.00 or you want your deposit back. If it hesitates and then goes after the rpms shoot up alittle the transmission is probably slipping . Toyotas and Hondas are the most bulletproof cars around. And parts are cheaper if repairs are neccesary .And the mazda 626 is ugly .my 2 cents
