  1. That would depend on who built it.


  2. It's easier to answer when you give all the relevant information.  Who built the engine?  What kind of service did it see under its former owner?

    We have three 2-ton trucks at work, one has seen over 350,000 miles and is still going.  These are tough, city-driving miles.  The other two are newer, one only a year old but the other has less than 200,000 miles.

    Diesels are tougher engines than gas mills.  Without abuse their more robust nature lends itself to a long, long life.  As a former owner of a diesel engined pickup once told me, "Make sure you  really like the color."
