I do not run any business and need to get insurance for my own use as i have a couple of rental homes i move furniture between in the uk and sometimes France

OK, this type of vehicle is not eligible for a personal auto policy, so you're going to HAVE to insure it commercially.  Due to the distance and going between two countries, it's NOT going to be cheap.
