You should pay no attention to any one person's opinion about his or her favorite brand -- too many biases that might not have any relevance for you.

You would do well to look at the August issue of Pop Photography -- they compare and contrast five brands of entry-level DSLR's -- after reading that article you would be much more knowledgeable and able to best decide what would work for you.

we bought a canon 20D about 3 years ago and love it, e did lots and lots and lots of research, I am sure they have newer technology out there now,,but if you are not a super serious photographer,,you should look into getting one that is a couple of years old for half the price,,,

I have always been partial to Canon. I have been told by a photographer friend of mine though that Nikon has a better one.

I just recently bought my canon eos rebel xti which I love. I recommend a dslr like mine if you're looking for a reasonably priced yet worth while camera. It all really depends on your budget and what you're looking for. Try going to http://www.dpreview.com or http://www.cameralabs.com
