  1. umm, my friends olmypus camera broke and i didnt find that it took very good photos.  i would say that Sony cameras are affordable, and take really good photos.  and with these cameras you have different options on how you want to take them, like if its dark, or snowy and stuff like that.  i hope i helped. :)

  2. Go to Consumerreports.org

There you can see ratings of product, features & cost.  This might help you find what you are looking for.  Good luck :)

  3. Yes Olympus are rather great, but they're a bit complicated unless you know a little about cameras.

Kodak seem to be the best for useabilty and good pictures. Also if you like you can get loads of accessories to go with kodak cameras, and they have the best features.

If I were you I'd go for a Kodak, anything over about 7MP will give you great pictures.

  4. You could get a Kodak C813 (£59.99) or a C713 compact camera. Kodak cameras are pretty good - they've got optical zoom and digital image stabilisation. They are really easy to use too.

  5. Olympus, Sony Cybershot, Samsung and Kodak are suppose to be good. Try and get a large amount of megapixels like 8-10 to get the best picture quality.

  6. Go for Canon G9 if size bothers you. Its quite small but very well built.

Or go for Canon S5 IS or Panasonic FZ18 if size doesn't bother you.

All these cameras will let you alter various parameters for a photo manually. Also, quality of photos taken are great.

  7. get a canon ixus 960IS if money is no object, if you want a better zoom and don't mind the camera being a little heavier get a panasonic DMC-TZ5, if you just need a nice cheap to midrange camera get the casio EX-Z1080

PS....Ignore people that say a high pixel count is good, this is not true, higher pixel count is likely to add digital noise you don't want to you image you'll be fine with anything above 6MP, also don't buy a Kodak, you can get better cameras for the same cost, such as the cameras mentioned above

  8. Olympus is very good.  We bought the Sony touch screen (cyber shot) and I absolutely love it...the pictures come out really good (high mega pixel!) and it can do anything you want!  It even has photo editing, so you don't have to download your pics on the pc to do the red eye removal or croping or zooming. It's fantastic!

  9. The all time winner bargain compact digital camera is the Canon 7.1 megapixel PowerShot SD1000 [not the IS] 7.1 with an added 2- gig memory card which when set in the manual mode for "Vivid" colors and videos at 30 fps in 320 dpi format provides killer images and videos. It currently sells for $160 at Sears:

    Good luck!

  10. Sony is a very good brand...and that is what I suggest!

  11. get a kodak with 8.2 mega pixels. it works wonders and has great zoom.

  12. If you are travelling, then check out the Panasonic DMC-TZ5. It has 10x optical zoom, 9.1 effective megapixels and 28-280mm lens. Has a 'Intelligent Auto' mode which makes it a really easy to handle point and shoot.

    Check out the reviews

  13. If money is no object, the Sony DSC-W300 is a very good one with a fine lens. It has one of the highest pixel counts and the lens is sharp enough for even professional needs.
