  1. I don't know how many times I can say this when a person wants to buy a motorcycle.

You do not ever want to get anything lower then a 600cc. You will have to learn throttle control with any motorcycle, but you won't out grow a 600 as you would with a smaller cc motorcycle.

That entire myth about your going to drop your bike as a beginner is a total crock of chit. I have taught many people how to ride a motorcycle properly and they have yet to drop thier bike.

Please take my advice and look into any type of sport bike with at least a 600cc

  2. i'm sorry but anyone who is going to tell a beginner to get a 600cc or above is a complete a hole.  it's not just dropping your bike, it's all the idiots on the road who can kill you with their cage.

if you want a nice sporty bike that will be fun safe and forgiving to learn on i would look at suzuki gsxf 500, kawasaki ninja 250 or 500.

  3. Look at a smaller bike.  Honda has a nighthawk CB250 that I ride.  It gets up to freeway speeds and does not look small.  It also  has great milage!!  The ninja is a good bike too if you want the sporty style of a bike.  My sister has a Ninja 500 and has not had any problems.  Both bikes sell for around $3500 new.  I would go with a used one if you can find one, that way if when you drop it you won't cry as much.  The smaller engine bikes are getting harder to find since people are picking them up for more than what bluebook is on them.  I have a 1994 CB250 Nighthawk.  Hope this helps with the hunt.

  4. Always start out small, you can always sell it when you are comfortable riding.

The biggest mistake people make is getting a big bike they can't handle, then they put off riding because it's to big to learn on.

I'd buy a good used one, you WILL drop it a few times learning.

    Kawasaki NInja are awesome.
