  1. That's a 16:10 aspect ratio tv. It will stretch (not convert but stretch) the image to fit the screen. Everything is slightly distorted when this is done. Some of the older Samsungs were 16:10 and there are still some no-name brands. These were really for computers but some makers used the screens in TVs to save money. Save a few bucks more and get a name brand 16:9.


  2. well, it's 1080, but the "i" is a little hasty. Most of the time, the television is capable of progressive scanning. If you just have cable or FiOS through it, you'll only see 1080i, but if you get a PS3 or blu-ray player, you'll see 1080p

  3. i think that's 1080i. 720p is 1024 X 768
