the reason why i want to do it myself is to save £200+, sellers often say kit can be removed easily without a specialist and every bike i see that i want doesnt have 33bhp kit on it eg kawazaki zx6r 636 or zx10r ninja.

also does anyone know which part you need to add the kit on to

thank you all in advance for your help

  1. Only motorcycle dealers can purchase the restriction kits from FI International.

you may be able to find the restriction washers second hand off ebay and fit them yourself.

If you are going to restrict your bike with a throttle stop or something similar then you will need a dyno run to make sure it's putting out less than 33bhp.

    Please don't buy a ZX10r, that's just stupid.

A bike that puts out 33bhp without restriction will be faster than a restricted 636 or ZX10r.

  2. When working on big stuff like this or jetting having a dyno is very important to tune and break the engine in correctly.  I am pretty handy myself and I paid AF1 to add the big bore kit to my Aprilia to make sure it was done right.

  3. As far as i can remember, the restriction kit is ordered using the bike's frame number,to get the certificate proving restriction, and it has to be fitted by a reconised mechanic. As far as restricting a ZX-10,i would say at it would make a rather sh*t bike(owned an 04 model).
