I want to buy a canary this week, but i am going to Majorcan on the 20th August, for 2 weeks, can it be left?

NO you can NOT leave this bird

If you do as the other poster posted you can if caught get the bird taken and face neglect charges

Why not wait to get a pet till after the trip

That way you have time to locate a bird sitter for your next trip and time to get to know the bird

You really should have a pair when it comes to Canaries and finches and small birds such as that

they are not the type bird that gets interaction from you like a parrot and so needs to have flock members to be happy

Are you buying from a breeder? If so you tell them you are going on vacation leave a small deposit they will in most cases hold the bird or birds

If you are buying at a pet shop Try and locate a rescue or breeder in your area you will save money and in many cases get a better bird.

may be you should ask someone to feed it at least couple times... Of course you can put the whole bag with food inside the cage and don't worry about foor, but what about water??? it dries in couple days...  you should find someone to come at least couple times to your house...
