I want to buy a car at the dealership tomorrow the blue book suggested retail value is $16950?

The private party value is $14100 and the trade in value is $11,375 they're selling it for $15995 how much should I pay for it

I don't want to get ripped off.

  2. If you can get it for around $15k you're doing pretty good.   But remember, once financing and trade-in, if applicable, is figured in, you'll likely pay more....though it will be harder to figure out.

  3. It depends on what you're buying. Does it have any warranty with the dealership? That's a plus if so. If not, I'd shop around more, and try through a private party. You could save a couple of thousand unless you need to finance it.

    In California, the seller has to provide mechanic's certification on demand, so at least you're covered there unless they sell "as is". "As is" usually means just got it off the blocks in front of my meth house and sort of runs.
